Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I attend William & Mary as a Biology major with a minor in biochemistry.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I have previous experience as a volunteer virtual tutor in science and reading comprehension at the seventh-grade level. Additionally, I am a peer advisor at W&M, helping incoming students with the academic transition to college through email correspondence and feedback on summer assignments.

What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?

I began working with Fairfax Collegiate in Summer 2024. I have taught Animal Physiology 7-9 and Virginia Algebra II 9-12 at the Tysons location and Virginia Precalculus 9-12 online.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

My major and minor require an in-depth understanding of all kinds of biology, including molecular cell biology, ecology, virology, microbiology, animal physiology, and conservation biology. I have taken classes in all of these and done well. I also have a passion for and background in chemistry courses, succeeding in general chemistry and organic chemistry courses enough to continue with a minor in biochemistry. At William & Mary a biology degree requires two semesters of math, so I have taken and excelled in math all the way through integral based Calculus.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

I love the energy, creativity, and curiosity that kids have. It's infectious.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

I am an avid fiction reader, love to hike, play electric guitar, and crochet. At William and Mary I am in a service fraternity, so I love to volunteer in the local Williamsburg community when not working on campus or studying.
