I graduated Magna Cum Laude from George Mason University with a Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, where I taught as a learning assistant and even earned a Distinguished Learning Assistant award for my efforts.
What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?I have over a year's worth of experience working as a math instructor at the Mathnasium of Mount Vernon, and during my time at college, I served as a learning/teaching assistant for several courses including Discrete Mathematics and Object-Oriented Programming. I also worked at my university's Math Tutoring Center, where students could come and receive instruction and clarification on math problems.
What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?I started working with Fairfax Collegiate in Summer 2024, when I taught robotics courses, Intro to Geometry, Intro to Algebra, and Biomedical Engineering.
What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?I am very familiar with all the ins and outs of Python, as I have been using Python throughout my entire time as a student at George Mason in classes such as Embedded Systems and Hardware Engineering and Small Spacecraft Engineering. I have also taken multiple classes in object-oriented programming and data structures, leaving me very well-equipped for teaching a computer programming course.
As for my experience with robotics engineering and Raspberry Pi, not only have I previously taught a robotics course at Fairfax Collegiate, but my capstone senior design project, which I worked on over the course of two semesters, involved controlling a semi-autonomous robot with electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG) signals. My team used a Raspberry Pi to process and conduct inferences on these signals using machine learning.
Finally, I have an extremely strong background in mathematics given my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, for which I was required to take many math-intensive courses, including proof-based courses such as Discrete Mathematics. I also have prior experience teaching both geometry and algebra at Fairfax Collegiate.
What excites you about teaching and working with students?I hope to impart my students with the critical thinking skills and self-confidence that will help guide them throughout the rest of their lives, while discouraging rote memorization, and encouraging students to be confident in their answers and in their ability to apply what they've learned to solve difficult problems.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy? My hobbies and activities outside of work and school include reading and creative writing, art, close-up magic, and breakdancing.
