Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I am attending the University of Maryland, majoring in Bioengineering with a Presidential Scholarship. I graduated from Chantilly High School where I was involved in FIRST Robotics on the Mechanical subteam, was the Lead Researcher of the Women in Science Club, was the President of the ESOL Peer Tutoring Club, and was the Outreach Coordinator of the Spanish Honor Society. Additionally, I scored a 1570 on the SAT.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I have 50+ hours of volunteer hours as an ESOL peer tutor, helping non-native high school students learn and practice English. I served as a tutor for Science National Honor Society for two years and assisted in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and ACT prep. During Fall 2024, I was the student lead of a local Python Camp held by my Robotics team, where I helped teach introductory Python to elementary school students from grades 4-6. Additionally, during Summer 2023, I worked with the nonprofit organization BranchOut! as an Algebra 1 and English tutor for struggling students. I was also a personal tutor in Algebra 2, Chemistry, and English in 2023.

What subjects have you taught with Fairfax Collegiate in the past?

I was a lead TA at the Tysons location during Summer 2024, and I assisted the Intro to Robotics and Hands-On Science classes.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

In regards to robotics, I have taken STEM Engineering, Engineering Drawing, and STEM Design classes in high school, and I am proficient in using various 3D modeling programs (Onshape, Autodesk Inventor) as well as 3D printers and their slicers (Ultimaker Cura, MakerBot, Creality). I was also involved in FIRST Robotics, as mentioned previously, and Technology Student Association. I am also very experienced with math as I have excelled in AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

The energy and passion of my students is what excites me most when I work with them, as it inspires me to reciprocate that same level of spirit as I share new and fascinating concepts with them.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

In my free time, I love to crochet everything from clothing to little toys, bake desserts for my family and friends, sew and embroider, and play Pokemon and Minecraft with my friends!
