I attended the College of William & Mary, where I earned a BS in Computer Science.
Where do you teach outside of Fairfax Collegiate? From 2017-2023, I participated in the JET Program where I was an English Teacher in Japan. Since then I have been an Acting Testing Coordinator with the Academies of Loudoun.
How long have you been with Fairfax Collegiate?I started working at Fairfax Collegiate in the summer of 2011, after my sophomore year of high school. I continued to teach with them on and off until 2017, when I graduated college, and then in the summer of 2024 after my return to the US. I have taught Math, Programming, Public Speaking, and Robotics classes, and I have developed curriculum for Math and Robotics classes.
What excites you about teaching and working with students? There are few things as satisfying as watching a student master a skill they have previously struggled with. It's also very invigorating to engage with students socially and academically, and I always enjoy cracking jokes and building a rapport with students.
What are you looking forward to as a location director?I enjoy engaging with a wide group of students in an administrative capacity, and I like tracking the students' progress as I oversee each of their classes. Plus, working as a location director allows you to build relationships with students who attend multiple sessions as the summer progresses.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?I read and write fantasy novels, play volleyball, and play video games.
